Chinese AI video generation platform Mootion has raised tens of millions of yuan in a new strategic funding round, bringing its total funding to nearly 100 million yuan (US$13.8 million). Investors include Source Code Capital and Sinovation Ventures, a venture capital firm founded by AI expert Kai-Fu Lee. Flow Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor.

The company has launched an upgraded video generation tool aimed at simplifying short video creation for both general users and professional content creators. Mootion is also exploring applications in professional animation and film production. It has partnered with Maoyan Entertainment, a major Chinese entertainment company, to test its AI solutions in professional animation workflows.

Mootion states that its AI technology addresses common challenges in video creation, including complex workflows and inconsistent results. The platform enables detailed 3D motion control, character replacements, and background adjustments. This aims to streamline the production process for users.
