Hong Kong biotechnology firm Immuno Cure has reported positive outcomes from an initial trial of its HIV vaccine Icvax.

The trial took place at a Shenzhen hospital and included 45 participants.

Unlike preventative vaccines, therapeutic ones like Icvax are administered post-infection.

Participants receiving the optimal dose showed a noteworthy increase in the T-cell response, a type of white blood cell targeting infected cells. The trial noted any side effects were mild.

Immuno Cure aims to submit the first-phase trial data to regulatory agencies for evaluation.
