Hitachi High-Tech to explore robot links with QuikBot
Hitachi High-Tech (Singapore), the regional headquarters of Hitachi High-Tech in Southeast Asia and India, and Singapore-based robotics firm QuikBot Technologies signed a collaboration agreement on September 14 in Singapore.
The companies will explore and test linking QuikBot’s QuikSync platform with Hitachi elevators and building systems. The goal is to let autonomous systems move through buildings using defined permissions and safety policies.
They plan to start with an installation and demonstration environment in Singapore before considering pilots, reference deployments, and wider adoption in Southeast Asia.
The scope could later extend beyond elevators to doors, access gates, loading docks, and other building systems.
Any integration involving Hitachi elevator and building systems will still require separate approvals from relevant Hitachi entities and system owners.
Hitachi already has a robot interfacing system listed in Singapore’s SMEs Go Digital catalogue, although the available material does not describe technical details or confirm elevator-specific application programming interfaces.
Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has also published technical guidelines for autonomous mobile robot delivery and maintains a dedicated support page for autonomous mobile robots, suggesting an existing standards context for such deployments.
