US healthtech firm Datavant buys Israel’s DigitalOwl for $200m

Datavant, a US healthcare data-sharing platform, has acquired DigitalOwl, an insurtech startup that uses AI to analyze medical records.

The deal is valued at just over US$200 million, mostly in cash, though the exact figure was not disclosed.

Founded in Israel in 2018, DigitalOwl serves insurers and law firms in the US, Canada, Israel, and Australia, with about 70 employees.

The startup raised US$38 million from backers including RGA Insurance, Insight Partners, Fusion VC, and Ibex Investors.

The acquisition strengthens Datavant’s data platform by adding AI-powered medical record review and analysis to its healthcare solutions.
