Harvey raises $200m to scale AI agents for legal work
Harvey, a San Francisco legal software company, raised US$200 million at a US$11 billion valuation to expand its AI agent and grow its legal engineering teams.
The round was co-led by GIC and Sequoia, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and Coatue, and the company said total funding is now over US$1 billion.
Harvey sells AI tools to law firms and in-house legal teams for contract analysis, compliance, and litigation.
In December, Harvey raised US$160 million at a US$8 billion valuation in a series F round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Harvey’s valuation rests on fast market capture, not only venture capital
- The recent funding followed quick execution. Harvey told Artificial Lawyer it hit $100 million in annual recurring revenue in about three years 1.
- That timeline is unusual in legal tech. Many companies with far less revenue have operated for nearly a decade 1.
- Harvey said 42% of the AmLaw 100, an annual ranking of the 100 highest-grossing US law firms, are customers 1.
- These firms rarely buy multiple competing generative AI (genAI) productivity platforms. That choice can narrow rivals’ access to the same segment 1.
Client demands for efficiency are pushing the legal industry to move faster
- Corporate clients are pressing firms to use AI to cut costs. They also want measurable savings 2.
- Pricing is shifting in response. Some in-house counsel want subscription-style billing for routine, commoditized work 2.
- That demand helped drive a venture capital boom. Funding for legal technology rose 44% year over year to nearly $3.56 billion in the first half of 2025 2.
- Firms with “visible AI strategies” were twice as likely to see revenue growth from AI adoption than peers using informal or ad-hoc approaches. The gap suggests AI adoption is becoming a baseline for competition 2.
