Ant International, a Singapore-headquartered fintech company focused on digital payments and financial services, said on July 24 that Hang Seng Bank became Alipay+’s first banking partner in Hong Kong.

The partnership lets Hang Seng Mobile App users make cross-border QR code payments through JustPay.

At launch, customers can pay in the Chinese mainland and other Alipay+-accepting markets, including Europe, the US, Australia, South Korea, and Malaysia, using both scan-to-pay and show-code methods.

The service reaches more than 100 million merchants across more than 55 countries and regions.

Alipay+ is a cross-border payment network that connects merchants with digital wallets and banking apps, rather than Ant’s domestic Alipay app.

Ant said the network includes more than 50 digital wallets and financial institutions, and partners with more than 10 national QR schemes.

Other Asia Pacific bank partners include OCBC, Kasikorn Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Vietcombank, Public Bank Berhad, Bank of the Philippine Islands, and Asia United Bank.
