Green SM has launched an electric taxi service in Makassar, Indonesia’s South Sulawesi province.

Green SM operates EV taxi fleets and is part of GSM, a Vietnam-founded mobility company that uses VinFast vehicles.

The launch event on September 15, 2025, was attended by local government and transport officials.

Makassar is the second Indonesian city for Green SM, after its launch in Jakarta in December 2024.

Green SM said its vehicles are fully electric and it aims to support Makassar’s plans for lower carbon emissions.

For new users in Makassar, Green SM is offering a 100% discount up to 50,000 rupiah (around US$3) on the first ride from September 15 to September 17, 2025, and a 20% discount up to 50,000 rupiah on rides from September 18 to September 28, 2025.

The company operates under the brand Xanh SM in Vietnam and Laos, and as Green GSM in the Philippines.
