Green SM, a Vietnam-based electric ride-hailing company also known as Xanh SM, launched an electric motorbike service in Jakarta on September 16, according to a LinkedIn post from VGreen CEO Edison Mai.

Mai said he had tried the service himself and described the ride as quiet.

The company runs an all-electric taxi service that can be booked via app. Before entering Jakarta, it had already launched an all-electric taxi service in Bali with local partner Taksi Komotra.

The Jakarta launch expanded Green SM’s footprint in Indonesia beyond Bali.

The company also operates in Laos, the Philippines, India, and Kazakhstan, and will compete in Jakarta with Gojek, Grab, Maxim, and InDrive.
