South Korea’s car exports rose by 5.5% year-on-year in October, driven by global demand for eco-friendly models like hybrids, according to the country’s trade, industry, and energy ministry.

The total vehicle shipment value reached US$6.2 billion, the highest for any October on record.

Around 243,367 cars were exported, marking an 8.1% increase from the previous year.

Hybrid car shipments were notable, valued at US$1.1 billion. This represents an 80.3% annual increase, surpassing the previous high set in August.
