Superhuman, the company formed after Grammarly bought email provider Superhuman in 2025 and rebranded under that name, said on June 23 that it had acquired AI detection startup GPTZero for undisclosed terms.

GPTZero, a US-based startup focused on detecting AI-generated text, was first built by founder Edward Tian as a senior thesis project.

Tian said the company had more than 19 million registered users and US$30 million in annual recurring revenue. He also said in 2024 that GPTZero was profitable.

GPTZero has raised US$13.5 million from investors including Uncork Capital, Reach Capital, and Alt Capital.

The acquisition adds GPTZero’s detection products to Superhuman’s existing AI detection tool.
