Move It, a Filipino motorcycle taxi platform acquired by Grab Philippines, said it had filed a motion for reconsideration after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board issued a preliminary decision penalizing the company over rider allocation.

The LTFRB imposed a P555.75 million (US$8.7 million) fine for allegedly having more riders than allowed under the motorcycle taxi pilot program.

Move It said rider allocation should be measured dynamically based on how many riders are actively online and ready to accept trips, especially during peak periods, because riders go online and offline throughout the day.

The pilot program caps the number of riders each accredited operator can deploy, and industry stakeholders have called for the limit to be reconsidered.

The House of Representatives previously approved a motorcycle taxi bill.
