Grab plans 5x expansion of autonomous fleet in Singapore
Grab said it plans to expand its autonomous vehicle fleet in Singapore 5x, from 10 to 50 vehicles, over the next six months. The company announced the move on September 14.
It will also broaden service coverage in Punggol with Singapore’s Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Authority, and seek regulatory approval to enter other areas.
The company said the expansion follows Land Transport Authority approvals for Community Rides for an autonomous vehicle shuttle service in January 2026 and Public Rides in April 2026.
Before those approvals, the fleet had logged more than 110,000 km on Singapore’s roads and served more than 12,000 unique riders.
Grab added that it is working with government agencies on an autonomous vehicle depot in Punggol. It also said GrabAcademy and WeRide have certified 30 safety operators.
The expansion comes as autonomous taxi trials in Singapore are expanding. Grab said the scale-up is a step toward its goal of responsibly deploying thousands of autonomous vehicles across Southeast Asia by 2030.
