Grab lets SG, Malaysia users access third-party services in-app
Grab has introduced Partner Apps, a new feature that lets users access third-party services directly within its app in Singapore and Malaysia.
The service will expand to other Southeast Asian markets in the coming months.
Users can book services from providers such as Firsty, HelloRide, Jolibox, redBus, and Drive lah, all without downloading separate apps or creating new accounts.
Payments can be made using GrabPay, and users earn GrabRewards points on transactions.
Grab said the new feature allows partner brands to reach its 46 million monthly users.
Partner Apps appear in a dedicated section on the Grab app’s homepage.
Pricing for services through Partner Apps matches providers’ own channels.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Partner Apps’ economics remain undisclosed, leaving questions about long-term viability
- Grab has not shared Partner Apps’ commercial terms 1. These could include commission rates or platform fees. They may also cover revenue sharing with partners like Firsty, HelloRide, and redBus.
- The press release focuses on user perks 1. Users get seamless payments, no extra downloads, and GrabRewards Points. It does not say if providers pay listing fees, transaction commissions, or ad costs to reach 46 million monthly transacting users.
- Opaque terms could limit third-party uptake. Grab revenue impact is uncertain, though it rose 19% to $2.8 billion in 2024 2.
- The silence echoes early marketplace rollouts. Unclear unit economics (profitability per transaction or customer) kept providers away until terms became clear.
Consumer app developers can tap Grab distribution with Partner Apps
- Travel, entertainment, and micromobility providers can reach Grab users via Partner Apps 1. Micromobility covers shared bikes, e-bikes, and scooters. This cuts the hassle of separate app installs and sign-ups.
- Firms should find the Partner App sign-up process, eligibility rules, and docs, including software development kits (SDKs) or APIs 1.
- Grab hosts the GrabFood Java SDK 3 and the GrabPlatform JavaScript SDK 4. We saw no public docs for Partner Apps integration in the launch or on developer pages we reviewed 156.
- Teams should contact Grab through enterprise sales or partnerships for build timelines, technical needs, and revenue-sharing terms before investing in development.
