Implications, context, and why it matters.

• Land Transport Authority runs two tracks called Developmental and Deployable, and AVs test at the Centre of Excellence for Testing & Research of Autonomous Vehicles (CETRAN) 1.
• Milestone 1 covers basic on-road skills while Milestone 2 applies to complex rollouts; driverless use is allowed only under the Deployable AV Solutions Assessment Track after requirements are met 1.
• Deployment follows a phased path from closed-circuit trials to on-road work with a human safety operator, then to community rides, then to commercial service that keeps an onboard safety operator in Punggol (Punggol is a residential town in northeastern Singapore) 2.
• Three autonomous shuttle routes in Punggol are planned with the first open by Q2 2026, and Grab will use WeRide’s platform (WeRide is a China based autonomous driving company); the announcement gives no date for fully driverless service under the May Mobility partnership with Grab 2.
