Grab said on June 3 that rumors it planned to exit Indonesia were untrue.

Citing a statement from its Indonesian unit, the company said Indonesia is an important market where it has operated for more than 10 years.

Grab said it would continue working with the Indonesian government and partners.

The company said it accounts for about 50% of Indonesia’s ride-hailing and online delivery industry.

Independent industry research valued Indonesia’s ride-hailing market at about US$2.6 billion and identified Grab Indonesia and Gojek as the leading platforms.

Separately, in May 2025, Grab was reported to be exploring a takeover of GoTo.

Analyst said a merger could give the combined group more than 91% of Indonesia’s ride-hailing market, a level analysts said would likely face regulatory scrutiny.
