Grab becomes majority owner of Indonesia’s Superbank

Grab said it had become the majority shareholder of PT Super Bank Indonesia Tbk.

The change followed share purchases by related entities A5-DB Holdings and GXS Pte Ltd bought shares in May 2026. The deal took its ownership above 50% and expanded its digital finance business in Indonesia.

Superbank, a digital bank in Indonesia, said its loan portfolio rose 55% year on year as of April 2026, driven by deeper integration with the Grab and OVO ecosystems. Profit before tax for the four months ended April 30, 2026, rose 1,529% to 142 billion rupiah (US$7.81 million).

Superbank rebranded in 2023 from Bank Fama International.

The move was backed by a consortium that ncluded Emtek, Grab, Singtel, and KakaoBank.

The ownership change comes in a crowded market with 17 digital banks in Indonesia, where rules allow foreign investors to hold up to 99% of a local lender.
