Grab agrees to buy 60% of Atome Financial for $1.49b
Grab said it had agreed on September 15 to acquire a controlling 60% stake in Atome Financial for US$1.49 billion in cash.
Atome Financial – the digital financial services arm of Singapore-headquartered Advance Intelligence Group – operates in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand.
If completed, the deal would combine Atome Financial’s buy now, pay later, consumer cash loan, BNPL card, and digital lending businesses with Grab’s financial services business.
Grab said Atome Financial and the rest of its financial services business were expected to generate US$500 million in adjusted EBITDA by 2028. The combined business was projected to have a gross loan portfolio of more than US$6 billion by then.
Grab also raised its 2028 group target for adjusted EBITDA to US$1.7 billion. It projected group revenue would grow at a compound annual rate of more than 30% from 2025 to 2028.
