Google has begun construction on a new US$2 billion data center in Malaysia, projecting the creation of about 26,500 jobs.
The project is expected to contribute more than $3 billion to the Malaysian economy by 2030.
This development follows a partnership with local technology firm Dagang NeXchange Berhad to deliver sovereign cloud services.
Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, emphasized that the new data centers support the nation’s goals of becoming a regional leader in technology and AI.
