Google tightens ‘work from anywhere’ policy launched during Covid
Google has updated its “work from anywhere” policy, now counting any remote workday as a full week against employees’ annual allowance.
This means if a worker spends one or five days away from their main office in a week, it will count as one full week of remote work.
The company’s hybrid schedule, allowing two work-from-home days each week, remains unchanged.
Google clarified that “work from anywhere” days cannot be used for working from home, nearby locations, or other Google offices in different regions due to legal and financial constraints.
The new policy excludes certain onsite roles and warns that violations could result in disciplinary action, following similar moves by Microsoft and Amazon to tighten in-office rules.
