Google rolls out no-code AI agent builder for Workspace

Google has launched Workspace Studio, a tool that lets users create, manage, and share AI agents to automate tasks in Google Workspace without coding.

The feature is rolling out gradually, starting December 3, 2025, for Rapid Release domains and January 5, 2026, for Scheduled Release domains.

Workspace Studio allows users to automate workflows, interact with third-party apps, and use templates for common tasks.

Admins can manage access and controls, users under 18 are restricted from AI features, and the service is available on eligible Workspace plans with promotional access to higher usage limits during rollout.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Workspace Studio pricing and SKU details remain unclear, which complicates planning

  • Google has not said which Workspace Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) include Studio or if it is an add-on 1. That gap leaves admins unsure about access.
  • Pricing, usage limits, and any post-rollout restrictions remain undisclosed 1. Teams with tight license budgets cannot judge long-term fit.
  • There is no clarity on whether Studio needs Business Plus or Enterprise 2. Those tiers add storage plus advanced security and management controls, so buyers cannot tell if an upgrade from cheaper plans is worth it.

Third-party developers can extend Workspace Studio via Workspace Marketplace integration

  • Developers can build custom steps with Apps Script (Google’s scripting platform for Workspace automation) or other languages 3. They can publish them in the Workspace Marketplace (Google’s app store for Workspace add-ons) for discovery and install. Organizations can find and install add-ons that extend Studio.
  • Agents connect to apps such as Asana or Jira plus Mailchimp or Salesforce 1. SaaS vendors can ship agent templates and connectors that speed onboarding.
  • System integrators (consultancies that implement and customize software for clients) that serve mid-market firms can package industry-specific agent workflows, such as sales pipeline management or customer support automation. They can sell these as consulting offerings that run on top of Workspace subscriptions to stand out.
