Google rolls out Gemini AI features in Chrome
Google is adding new AI features to Chrome, its widely used web browser, with a rollout starting for US desktop users browsing in English.
A new button in Chrome will launch Gemini, Google’s generative AI chatbot, which can answer questions about web content and summarize information from multiple tabs.
These features were first made available to paid subscribers in May, and are now expanding to a broader user base via a browser update.
Android users already have access to some Gemini tools in Chrome, and an iOS update is expected soon.
Later this month, Google plans to add an AI Mode to Chrome’s address bar, allowing users to interact with Gemini for web-based queries, though this option will be optional.
Google is also developing agentic features that could let Gemini perform tasks like adding items to an online order, with results shown before users confirm actions.
These additions mark a broader trend, as more browsers introduce generative AI tools in 2025.
