Google rolls out Ask Maps feature in US, India
Google said it is updating Maps with Ask Maps and Immersive Navigation, and that Ask Maps has begun rolling out in the US and India, while Immersive Navigation has begun rolling out in the US and will expand over the coming months to eligible iOS and Android devices, CarPlay, Android Auto, and cars with Google built-in.
Ask Maps is a conversational tool that Google said answers complex location queries and can book restaurant reservations and save or share places.
Google said the feature draws on data from over 300 million places and reviews from what it described as more than 500 million contributors.
Immersive Navigation introduces a 3D view that highlights lanes, crosswalks, and traffic lights, and Google said it uses Gemini models to analyze Street View and aerial imagery for route context.
Google said Maps processes over 5 million traffic updates every second, that drivers submit more than 10 million reports daily, and added that the navigation update will expand over the coming months to eligible iOS and Android devices, CarPlay, Android Auto, and cars with Google built-in.
