Alphabet Inc.’s Google has opposed the United States Department of Justice’s (DOJ) proposal to divest its Chrome as part of an ongoing antitrust case.

In a court filing, the company called the plan “extreme” and inconsistent with legal norms.

Google argued that the proposed remedies do not align with the identified violations and offered alternatives to promote competition without selling Chrome.

A final decision on the case is expected by August 2025.
