Google Play adds ShopeePay payment option in Singapore
ShopeePay, a digital payments provider in Southeast Asia and Brazil that is part of Sea’s Monee unit, said on August 13 that users in Singapore can now pay for apps and digital content on Google Play using ShopeePay.
Payment options include wallet balance, SPayLater, and linked credit and debit cards.
The launch adds another checkout option in Singapore, where Google Play already supports credit and debit cards, PayPal, GrabPay, and some carrier billing plans.
ShopeePay is licensed in Singapore as a Major Payment Institution, a category that covers services including e-money issuance and merchant acquisition.
Monee was rebranded from SeaMoney, and the unit reported 59% year-on-year revenue growth to US$1.4 billion in Q2 2026, according to Sea’s investor materials.
ShopeePay said it will offer S$5 (US$3.9) off, with no minimum spend, on a user’s first Google Play purchase made via ShopeePay or SPayLater until August 31, 2026.
