The European Court of Justice on July 2 upheld a roughly 4.1 billion euros (US$4.67 billion) fine against Google, and rejecting their final appeal over anticompetitive practices tied to Android.

European Union regulators said Google abused Android by forcing device makers to preinstall Google Search and Chrome to get access to the Play Store.

The company also blocked manufactures from selling devices running incompatible Android forks.

After the 2018 ruling, Google introduced a search choice screen in Europe and switched from an auction-based format to a free one with more slots.
