Google launches Gemini Enterprise to power AI in businesses

Google has announced Gemini Enterprise, a new AI-powered platform aimed at businesses.

The announcement was made by CEO Sundar Pichai and cloud CEO Thomas Kurian at the Gemini at Work event on Google’s campus.

Gemini Enterprise enables employees to interact with company documents, data, and applications using AI, and offers tools to build and deploy AI agents, including pre-built options.

The platform is built on Google’s latest Gemini models, and Google reports that 65% of its cloud customers use AI products.

Google said its cloud unit reached a US$50 billion annual revenue run rate in Q2 2025.

Pilot projects include a nurse handoff solution at HCA Healthcare and customer service improvements at Best Buy.

Google highlighted the use of its AI tools internally, noting that nearly half of its new code is now generated by AI, with review and acceptance by engineers.

Gemini Enterprise has been introduced as an entry point for organizations to access Google’s AI innovations.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Gemini Enterprise’s success hinges on unclear pricing and packaging details

  • While Google announced three tiers—Gemini Business at $21/seat/month, Enterprise Standard and Plus at $30/seat/month—critical details remain missing 1. The pricing doesn’t specify token quotas, overage rates, or how Gemini Enterprise differs from existing offerings like Gemini for Workspace (which ranges from $18-36/user/month depending on commitment) or Gemini Code Assist ($19-54/month) 2.
  • Without clarity on what’s included in each tier versus paid add-ons, enterprises can’t accurately assess total cost of ownership or compare against competitors. For context, BigQuery’s Gemini features are free with compute editions but have usage-based quotas that vary by license type 3, suggesting Google’s AI pricing remains fragmented across products.
  • The News Article emphasizes Gemini Enterprise as “the new front door for AI” and touts integration with Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and SAP, but doesn’t address whether these integrations require additional licensing or API costs from those vendors—a crucial factor for budget planning.

Third-party developers can capture demand by building validated agents and enablement services

  • Google is actively building a partner ecosystem with over 100,000 partners and thousands of validated agents already available 4. The Google Cloud Ready – Gemini Enterprise designation rewards partners meeting performance standards, creating a monetization path through Google Cloud Marketplace 4.
  • Gaps exist in domain-specific agents: while pre-built agents cover software development, data science, and customer engagement 1, specialized industries need tailored solutions. Partners like Amplitude, Avalara, and UiPath are already announcing Gemini-compatible agents 4, suggesting first-movers can establish category leadership.
  • For consulting firms and system integrators, Google offers the GEAR program to train one million developers 5 and the Delta team for embedded expert support 6, indicating strong demand for implementation services. Early adopters like HCA Healthcare and Best Buy required custom solutions 7, showing enterprises need hands-on help beyond the no-code workbench.
