Google has launched Gemini CLI, an AI coding assistant designed to simplify developers’ workflows.

Announced on June 25, 2025, the tool is available globally and integrates with Google’s Gemini AI software.

Gemini CLI, which stands for “command line interface,” allows developers to use natural language commands for coding tasks.

It can also generate videos and set up websites. The tool is open source, enabling developers to modify, inspect, and redistribute its code.

The AI assistant provides free access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google’s leading AI model, through personal Google accounts.

Users can make 60 requests per minute and up to 1,000 requests per day, with higher limits available in paid versions.
