Google invests $1b to build data centers in Thailand

Google has announced a US$1 billion investment to establish a data center and cloud region in Thailand, specifically in Bangkok and Chonburi.

According to a study conducted by Deloitte, this investment is projected to add approximately US$4 billion to Thailand’s GDP by 2029. It will also support an average of 14,000 jobs annually from 2025 through 2029.

This announcement aligns with a collaboration agreement formed in November 2023 between the Royal Thai Government and Google, focusing on the development of digital infrastructure and promoting responsible AI adoption in the nation.

The investment will support the development of critical cloud and data center capabilities essential for public services, small businesses, and large organizations.

Google aims to further invest in AI skills development, targeting an additional 150,000 Thais by 2026.
