Google to invest $10b in first Indian data center cluster

Google plans to invest US$10 billion to build a 1 Gigawatt (GW) data center cluster in Visakhapatnam, its first major project of this kind in India.

The project will cover three campuses across Adavivaram, Tarluvada, and Rambilli villages, with operations targeted to begin by July 2028.

It includes the installation of three submarine cables, cable landing stations, metro fiber lines, and supporting telecom infrastructure.

Google executives are expected to finalize the deal with Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh in New Delhi on October 14, 2025.

Pending approval from the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board, this would mark Google’s largest direct investment in India’s digital infrastructure.
