Google has launched a pilot program in India to integrate Rich Communication Services (RCS) with the Google Search app.

This allows users to connect with businesses through AI-powered chat or live agents via their SMS inbox.

RCS enhances traditional SMS by offering multimedia features like images, voice messages, and location sharing.

One of the first organizations to test this service is Union Bank of India, which aims to improve customer interactions and reduce wait times.

This initiative could position RCS as a competitor to WhatsApp’s messaging capabilities, with both platforms expected to dominate India’s US$1.3 billion enterprise messaging market.

In addition to this, Google is expanding its presence in India, which includes the Tamil Nadu AI Labs in Chennai and discussions on drone manufacturing with its subsidiary, Wing LLC.
