Google enhances Gemini Code Assist with AI, new tools
On Apr. 10, Google announced updates to its AI coding assistant, Gemini Code Assist.
The new features, currently in preview, introduce “agentic” capabilities that allow the assistant to perform multi-step programming tasks.
These enhancements enable Code Assist to deploy AI agents that can create applications based on specifications in Google Docs.
They can also translate code between programming languages and conduct tasks such as implementing new features and generating unit tests.
A Kanban board interface has also been added to help users manage work plans and track progress.
Gemini Code Assist is now available in Android Studio, broadening its accessibility beyond existing coding platforms.
