Google drops diversity targets amid DEI program overhaul

Google announced it will no longer pursue specific hiring goals for underrepresented groups, signaling a shift in its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.

CEO Sundar Pichai’s 2020 target to increase leadership representation by 30% by 2025 is now discontinued.

The company removed a DEI commitment statement from its annual SEC filing, reflecting ongoing program reviews.

Despite this change, Google will continue supporting internal employee networks, such as “Trans at Google” and the “Black Googler Network,” which help shape policies and products.
