Google DeepMind opens AI research lab in Singapore
Google DeepMind has opened a new AI research lab in Singapore, expanding its footprint in Asia-Pacific.
The lab will focus on research and development, working with government agencies, businesses, and academic institutions in the region.
Google DeepMind said its Singapore-based team includes research scientists, software engineers, and AI experts, and will collaborate on projects relevant to Asia-Pacific’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
The company highlighted recent partnerships in Singapore, including work with A*STAR and the National Neuroscience Institute using its AlphaFold technology, and collaborations with AI Singapore on language-focused projects.
Google DeepMind also noted support for local startups through its AI accelerator and initiatives to promote AI education.
Singapore is the company’s first AI research lab in Southeast Asia.
