Puffer Finance, a crypto infrastructure company behind Ethereum scaling products, said on September 22 that Google Cloud had joined Puffer Preconf as a gateway operator.

Puffer UniFi will be the first Ethereum rollup to use Google Cloud’s gateway for transaction processing and preconfirmations.

The company said the setup will give rollups and appchains access to Google Cloud infrastructure for transaction processing and sub-second preconfirmations before final settlement on Ethereum.

Puffer said this would make Google Cloud one of the first large cloud infrastructure providers to operate in Ethereum’s preconfirmation and rollup ecosystem.

The announcement follows Google Cloud’s existing Web3 infrastructure efforts. It offers Blockchain Node Engine as a fully managed node-hosting service for Web3 developers.

Google Cloud’s documentation also shows customers can create nodes for Ethereum on the platform.
