Google Cloud opens Singapore engineering center
Google Cloud has opened a Singapore Engineering Center to build enterprise cloud and AI products in Singapore for global deployment, expanding its engineering capacity as it expands work with customers across Southeast Asia.
The hub, co-located with Google DeepMind’s Singapore research lab, will focus on AI infrastructure, data, compute, machine learning, core networking, storage, and developer platforms.
Singapore’s Economic Development Board is supporting the center.
Google said the center will work with enterprise customers during product development.
It cited early work with Grab on multilingual AI models and DBS, Singapore’s largest bank, on financial workflows.
Google is also expanding its regional Forward Deployed Engineer team, which helps customers integrate and scale custom systems.
The move builds on Google’s existing Singapore cloud region and data center campus, whose latest phase was completed in 2024, rather than marking a new market entry.
It also comes as AWS said it will invest S$12 billion (US$9.46 billion) more in Singapore by 2028.
