Google Cloud expands data push with US energy giant NextEra

NextEra Energy and Google Cloud have expanded their collaboration to jointly develop large-scale data center campuses and energy infrastructure across the US.

The plan includes building multiple gigawatt-scale sites and integrating Google Cloud’s AI and digital tools into NextEra Energy’s operations.

The first product from the collaboration will be available on the Google Cloud Marketplace by mid-2026.

The companies will use AI to improve field operations and grid management, such as predicting equipment issues and optimizing system performance.

They are currently working on three data center campuses and considering additional locations.

The two firms already have about 3.5 GW of operational or contracted capacity together, including recent projects in Iowa and Oklahoma.
