Google Cloud, Google’s cloud computing unit, announced a new Gemini agent for answering questions, creating content, analyzing data, and coding across Workspace and other work environments.

Google said the agent works with Microsoft 365 and Slack, and can route tasks across Gemini models and Anthropic’s Claude models.

It also said it includes identity management, permission controls, secure sandboxing, and spending controls.

Gemini assistance already exists in Workspace, and Google has documented Workspace integrations for Gemini Enterprise Agents.

However, Google described this announcement as a new universal agent for work.

Anthropic runs workloads on Google Cloud.

Microsoft also offers agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Google also announced plain-language reporting tools integrated with BigQuery, a data warehouse product, and industry-specific features for financial services and legal teams.

It said nearly 80% of Google Cloud customers use its AI products. It also said nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies use Gemini Enterprise.
