Google asks Supreme Court to delay Play Store order
Google has asked the US Supreme Court to pause an order requiring changes to its Play Store policies after an antitrust case filed by Epic Games.
In a filing to Justice Elena Kagan, Google said the order, set to take effect on October 22, 2025, should be delayed while the company seeks Supreme Court review.
The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in July 2025 that Google must let app developers create alternative marketplaces and billing systems on Android.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney welcomed the ruling, saying it would allow his company to offer the Epic Games Store through Google Play.
The case comes as Google faces global regulatory scrutiny, with a jury already finding the company restricted competition in its app store practices.
