Google adds legal AI tools to Gemini Enterprise
Google on Aug. 25 expanded Gemini Enterprise with legal-specific tools, adding connections to platforms from Thomson Reuters, Harvey, and LexisNexis as technology companies push deeper into AI for law firms.
Alphabet launched Gemini Enterprise for business customers in October 2025 as a version of Gemini for businesses. Google said it includes enterprise data governance rules for handling customer inputs and outputs.
The company also introduced tools for financial services and said more industry-specific products will follow, as demand from law firms using AI for legal work and business operations grows.
The move comes as competition in legal AI intensifies.
Thomson Reuters, which owns Reuters and the Westlaw legal research database, launched its proprietary large language model Thomson 1.0 on August 24.
The American Bar Association also issued ethics guidance on lawyers’ use of AI, including duties around competence, confidentiality, and review.
