Google adds AI tools to Maps, Search, Hotels for travel
Google has launched updates to Maps, Search, and Hotels to enhance travel planning
A new Google Maps feature lets users identify and save locations from screenshots using Gemini AI. It detects place names, displays them on a map, and allows saving to shareable lists.
This rolls out in English to iOS users in the US this week, with Android support coming soon.
Google Search now offers itinerary-building tools. Users can request trip plans, like “create a vacation itinerary for Greece that focuses on history,” and receive site recommendations with reviews, photos, and maps.
These can be saved to Google Maps or exported to Google Docs or Gmail. AI Overviews in Google Lens will support six more languages, including Hindi and Spanish.
For hotels, a global rollout of price drop alerts lets users track hotel prices for specific dates and locations.
Filters include location, star rating, and proximity to the beach. Notifications will be sent via email to monitor price changes.
