Google adds AI labels to Search, YouTube ads

Google is adding a “How this ad was made” disclosure in My Ad Center for Search, YouTube, and Discover ads. It shows when ad assets were created or edited with AI.

My Ad Center already lets people learn who paid for an ad. The new section adds details on whether ad assets were created or edited with AI.

Google previously required synthetic-content disclosures for certain election ads, while minor edits were excluded.

Google said disclosures are automatically applied when advertisers use its AI ad tools. If ad assets are created elsewhere, advertisers must use Google’s AI label setting to disclose that.

For campaigns targeting the European Union, India, and New York, ads may also show overlays on the ad itself under local rules.
