Gojek Singapore has launched GoCar Nearby, a ride option for short, off-peak daytime trips in eastern and north-eastern Singapore that caps eligible fares at S$9.90 (US$7.8) for rides under 5km.

The option appears automatically in the Gojek app when a booking meets the location, distance, and time criteria.

The S$9.90 (US$7.8) cap excludes standard platform add-ons and fees, such as Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges, waiting fees, cancellation fees, and child seat surcharges.

Gojek said drivers’ earnings for GoCar Nearby trips will still be based on the original fare, with no change to what they earn per trip.

The company said this is the first phase of a rollout and it plans to refine the service using feedback from commuters and drivers.
