Global EV sales see slowest growth on China, US policy changes

Global EV sales in November 2025 rose at their slowest pace since February 2024, with growth in China marking its lowest year-on-year rise since early 2024, and North America facing its first annual drop since 2019.

Global EV registrations climbed 6% to just under 2 million units for the month, according to industry data.

China, which accounts for over half of global EV sales, saw a 3% year-on-year rise to more than 1.3 million units, its slowest growth since early 2024.

North American EV registrations fell 42% to just over 100,000 vehicles after the end of US tax credits, leaving the region down 1% for the year.

Europe, supported by government incentives, saw EV registrations jump 36% to more than 400,000, while the rest of the world grew 35% to nearly 160,000.

US policy changes and reduced subsidies in China are expected to weigh on EV sales in 2026, according to industry analysts.
