Global AI data startup Perceptron raises $6.5m
Perceptron, which operates a decentralized AI data network, said on July 30 that it raised US$6.5 million in a funding round to scale its network and dataset-sourcing platform for AI companies.
The round was backed by Sigma Capital, Selini Capital, QCP Capital, P2 Ventures, and Aethir, the company said.
Perceptron said its network lets AI companies source verified, real-world datasets from a global community of contributors.
The company said it has more than 300,000 daily active users across more than 807,000 nodes, up from 200,000 users in its first phase.
It is targeting 5 million nodes with a new platform that would let AI companies commission datasets directly from the community.
Perceptron said BlockMesh joined its network, making BlockMesh’s device network Perceptron’s node layer.
In that model, nodes are user-run devices that crawl public data, while contributors can be rewarded with PERCs.
The funding comes as AI companies seek more consented, high-context datasets, and as legal pressure grows over web-scraped training data.
