GitLab, a US-based DevSecOps platform, has released version 19.4 with new agentic automation features and credit-tracking tools for engineering teams.

The update puts the /goal command in GitLab Duo command-line interface (CLI) into public beta, letting developers automate an open-ended objective from the terminal through a controlled flow that runs locally and verifies its own work.

GitLab also launched Model Context Protocol (MCP) server tools in public beta under GitLab Duo Agent Platform.

The tools enable agents to automate tasks across continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), merge requests, work items, vulnerabilities, and projects, subject to tool-level rules.

In addition, GitLab made GitLab Credits usage visibility generally available.

The company also said its new GitLab-hosted open-weight models can deliver up to 4x more calls per credit, with performance comparable to frontier models.
