GIC reportedly eyes joining KKR in ST Telemedia data center deal

GIC Pte and Mubadala Investment Co. are in discussions to join KKR and Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. in a potential acquisition of data center operator ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Pte, sources said.

The deal could value STT GDC at over US$10 billion, including debt, and may be announced soon.

KKR and Singtel are also in talks with banks for a S$5 billion (US$3.9 billion) loan to support the transaction.

KKR and Singtel are existing investors, having acquired a minority stake in STT GDC in 2025. STT GDC operates more than 100 data centers across 20 markets, including India, South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia.

Data centers remain attractive due to their role in AI infrastructure, though concerns about high spending persist.
