Get your caffeine fix at this Chinese robotic kiosk
In Shanghai, Hi-Dolphin Robot Technology runs Cofe+, a self-sufficient kiosk designed to lower brewing costs while ensuring quality for café owners and patrons in one of the world’s coffee capitals.
The Cofe+ booth employs a four-axis robotic arm to efficiently prepare various coffee types, including Americano and cappuccino, in about 50 seconds.
Each booth includes grinders and ice makers, capable of producing up to 300 beverages per fill, eliminating the need for human baristas.
Philip Han, the company’s founder, compared automated baristas to their human counterparts, saying while humans can be forgetful and less hygienic, the automated system operates within the protective glass and utilizes patented anti-insect and antibacterial technology.
The system features self-cleaning capabilities and precisely regulated milk temperatures to maintain optimal freshness.
Internationally, Hi-Dolphin has established nearly 1,000 coffee booths across over 30 countries, with plans to penetrate 20 additional markets by year-end.
