Germany will ban Chinese suppliers like Huawei from its future 6G networks due to security concerns, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at a business conference in Berlin on November 13, 2025.

Merz added that Germany aims to replace as many Chinese components as possible in its current 5G network with domestic alternatives.

Europe is increasingly seeking to reduce its reliance on foreign technology amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Germany previously ordered telecom operators to remove Huawei equipment from their core networks, citing national security risks.
