German cartel office probes Temu over merchant pricing

Germany’s cartel office has launched an investigation into Temu over possible restrictions on third-party merchant pricing on its ecommerce platform.

Temu, an online marketplace operated by Dublin-based Whaleco Technology Limited, has been active in Germany for about a year.

Andreas Mundt, president of the cartel office, said they are examining whether Temu sets inadmissible pricing requirements for merchants, which could restrict competition and raise prices on other sales channels.

Temu said it complies with all relevant laws and is confident concerns can be addressed.
