Motor Ai, a Berlin-based autonomous driving company, has secured US$20 million in a seed funding round to further develop its Level 4 autonomous driving technology for use on public roads in Germany.

The funding round was led by Segenia Capital and eCAPITAL, with additional participation from mobility-focused investors.

The new funding will facilitate hiring, commercial rollouts, and further expansion of the company.

Founded in 2017, Motor Ai has developed its autonomous technology in-house.

Motor Ai’s system employs a neuroscience-inspired architecture that prioritizes structured and transparent decision-making.

The company highlights its commitment to compliance with European safety and regulatory standards. This year, the technology will undergo testing on German roads, initially with safety drivers present.

These drivers are expected to be phased out by 2026, as the company aims to implement full-stack autonomy alongside legally required technical oversight.
